About Aja

Aja Prater is the Director of Talent and Operations at Attuned Education Partners. Internally, Aja drives Attuned’s culture and programming, often managing detailed logistics and communication frameworks. Her work includes writing team newsletters, designing and leading logistics for team meetings, and planning crafting everything from agendas to scripts to connection experiences for special events. Aja also provides management support for several partner-facing projects through drafting communications and designing facilitation plans. Aja has strengthened the internal functions of Attuned’s teams by designing agendas, templates, meeting cycles, and communication structures that prioritize clarity and coherence. She has shaped team retreats and rituals that reinforce culture and connection, which in turn supports retention, alignment, and the collective energy of the team. She has also supported execution of multi-district convenings and sessions that bring partners together to drive leadership growth.

Career Summary

Prior to Attuned, Aja served as Dean of Operations at KIPP Legacy Preparatory School in Houston, TX, where, as a member of the leadership team, she oversaw all facets of operations including technology, communication, assessments, and school culture. Before that, she held the role of Dean of Instruction, leading teacher development and started her career as a founding teacher, helping the school grow from its founding class of ~180 students to nearly 1,000, making it one of the largest schools in the KIPP network at the time.

Education, Awards & Fellowships

Aja holds a B.S. in Applied Learning & Development with ESL certification from the University of Texas at Austin. She has completed the KIPP Foundation’s School Leadership Program strands for both Leadership Team and Teacher Leaders, and KIPP Houston’s Emerging Leaders program.

My Why

Aja is committed to providing clearer systems, more grounded culture, or more coherent support to the adults that serve students, always operating from a place of service, clarity, and community-building. Her desire to create environments where people feel seen, supported, and connected comes from her deep belief that a strong team culture translates into better outcomes for students.

What Brings Me Joy

Outside of work, Aja is deeply rooted in her church community, where she serves as the Kids Director. She also enjoys reading, cultivating spaces of intentional connection, and simple joys (like a cup of tea and a Pilates class!) that nourish her daily rhythm.
