About Melika

Melika Butcher-Davis is a Senior Director of Leader Development with Attuned Education Partners, where she provides thought-partnership and support to school and system leaders in the forms of instructional coaching, professional development, and content-specific support. One of Melika's key partners is Leominster Public Schools, which has seen tremendous results over the course of our partnership, closing achievement gaps in both ELA and Math. In addition, Melika has supported a subset of schools within Harford Public Schools’ Innovation Network, a cohort engaged in community-driven innovation to transform the student experience. One of these schools, Betances Learning Lab, has demonstrated consistent growth over the past three years. During this period, the school’s Performance Index increased in both ELA and Math, growing from 60.6 in SY22–23 to 66.3  in SY24–25, and from 63.7 in SY22–23 to 71.2 in SY24–25, respectively.

Career Summary

Prior to joining Attuned, Melika served as a Principal with Uncommon Schools. During her tenure as Principal, her school achieved double digit gains in both English and Language Arts and in Mathematics. She received Uncommon’s “Rookie Principal of the Year” award in 2019 for effectively turning around both student and staff culture and student achievement in her school during her first year as Principal. Prior to school leadership, Melika served in many capacities, including as an Instructional Leader, Dean of Students, Curriculum and PD Planner, and English and Language Arts teacher. Melika started her career in education with Teach for America, teaching middle school English and Language Arts in Newark, New Jersey.
