About Rachel

Rachel Skerritt is a Chief Strategy Officer at Attuned Education Partners, where supports school system leaders to develop community-informed, data-driven multi-year plans. She stays on with partner leadership teams to ensure effective organizational change and implementation of strategic planning initiatives to drive student achievement. Rachel’s superintendent and network CEO partners have reported improved team effectiveness as a result of their collaborative engagement with Attuned, which extended through the strategic planning process and subsequent progress monitoring. Additionally, some partners have seen increased student performance outcomes as early as the first year of implementation of their strategic plans.

Career Summary

Rachel began her career in education over 25 years ago as a middle and high school English teacher. Before joining Attuned, Rachel served for five years as Head of School at Boston Latin School (BLS), the nation’s first public school and the #1 ranked public high school in Massachusetts. She assumed leadership of BLS after her role as Deputy Chief of Leadership Development for DC Public Schools, where she designed professional learning for the system’s principals and amplified the district’s residency for aspiring administrators. Previously, she successfully led Eastern Senior High School through federal turnaround status, implementing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and raising the school’s graduation rate to among the highest in the district. Before her move to Washington, DC, Rachel was Chief of Staff for Boston Public Schools (BPS) after completing her first school principalship at Another Course to College, a small pilot high school in Boston.

Education, Awards & Fellowships

Rachel is a former Truman Scholar and Pahara Fellow. She holds a B.A. in English and a Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a Masters in Leadership from McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

Rachel is driven by a belief that she lived firsthand—that a world class education can change the trajectory of students’ lives, and those of generations to follow.

What Brings Me Joy

In her free time, Rachel is either exploring new countries, taking her son to his many practices, or writing new episodes of The Soovins on YouTube Kids.
