Staff Satisfaction & Retention Resources

WHAT SPARK MAKES POSSIBLE

Predict efficacy, satisfaction, and retention outcomes.

Spark surfaces the things leaders often feel but can’t quite name. It helps you understand the conditions that support your staff and the ones that are wearing them down. Staff experience is multi-dimensional, but there are certain conditions that make the biggest difference in whether people stay. Spark's 6 survey domains and 45 questions are grounded in research and help predict efficacy, satisfaction, and retention outcomes.

TURN TEACHER VOICE INTO ACTION

The Listen Framework

The LISTEN cycle is Attuned’s recommended process for helping school systems turn Spark survey results into meaningful improvement. It provides a clear sequence of steps leaders can follow to learn from staff feedback, prioritize focus areas, communicate next steps, implement changes, and monitor progress over time.

Listen Framework Toolkit
"We have administered the Spark survey across all of our schools (Pre-K through High School) over the past two school years. We have tremendous confidence in the survey itself – it provides us with rigorous, research‑grounded insights, and actionable results. By pinpointing strengths and areas for growth, both across schools and within individual schools, we’ve been able to translate our results into targeted actions that are meaningfully improving teacher efficacy and supporting teacher retention. Additionally, we deeply appreciate the ability to see Uncommon’s performance across the Spark domains, compared to the other schools, districts and CMOs taking the survey."

RESULTS & CASE STUDIES

Trends in Staff Satisfaction in SY24-25 and SY25-26

We analyzed results from the Spark Staff Satisfaction Survey to identify trends in staff retention in the past 2 years. Across this sample, staff experience measurably predicts who stays. The most dissatisfied respondents left at roughly 3x the rate than those who were very satisfied. Click the button below to explore the results and case studies we shared at the 2026 National Charter School Conference.
